Recently the Graduate Women International held it’s Assembly and followed this with a Conference in Cape Town. International Graduate Women’s associations met from across the world (from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Uganda, Nigeria, Egypt, Kenya, USA, India, Britain, Ireland, South Africa, Ghana, Hong Kong, Scotland, Russia, Austria, Finland, Turkey, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico and several other countries). There were some amazing role models, with women making a difference for the future education of disadvantaged groups, those with health issues, domestic violence issues and family responsibilities. In particular it was noted than the number of women in ICT, and some Science, Technology , Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) professions has been in decline. We need to monitor the statistics dis-aggregated by gender, so that change and progress can be measured.
